BLS Certification in Michigan

The Red Cross delivers BLS training in Michigan in two convenient ways. The first uses a traditional classroom setting and combines in-person instruction with hands-on skills sessions. The second gives you the power to learn online at your own pace, then demonstrate your skills, in person, to a qualified instructor. Successful completion of either type of BLS class will result in full certification for two years.

At the Red Cross we know that if you don't use your BLS skills regularly, they're easy to forget. That's why after your BLS training in Michigan, we'll give you access to a wide range of refresher materials. Designed to keep your skills sharp and your memory fresh, our refresher materials include quizzes, games and videos, and they're all free.

Not only can members of your department or organization earn their Michigan BLS certification through the American Red Cross, but members of your department can also become Red Cross training partners. We'll recognize your current instructor certifications and offer a free instructor bridging, so you can start teaching now. Instructors can teach within their own departments, provide BLS training to other organizations, train community members in First Aid and CPR, and more. Plus, with the support, tools, equipment and materials you need to provide training, we'll be here for you every step of the way.

Our Michigan BLS certification courses allow healthcare and public safety professionals to provide life-saving care to those in need. Our curriculum includes all of the standard scientific learning objectives necessary in professional resuscitation courses, but also encourages you to develop critical thinking and teamwork skills, and work on reflection and debriefing. All of our BLS courses for healthcare providers are modular and flexible, and can be tailored to suit your department's protocols.

In addition to offering BLS training in Michigan for healthcare providers and first responders, we also offer classes to help you become a certified Red Cross BLS instructor. Not only can this certification allow you to teach BLS classes to your own crews and/or teams, but it allows you to deliver training to others across the state.

Because your certification is only valid for two years, Michigan BLS training isn't a one-time process. In order to maintain your credentials, certificate holders who are nearing the end of their certification period, or those whose certifications are within 30 days of expiring, must take a BLS renewal course to avoid a lapse in certification. Once successfully completed your BLS certification will be extended by two more years. The Red Cross offers online and in-person renewal courses so you can choose the right class for the way you learn.
