Emergency Steps
1If your cat is having difficulty breathing, noisy breathing, or collapses, check her ABC’s (airway, breathing, and circulation) and perform CPR on your cat if needed. Go to the vet immediately.
2If your cat’s face and neck are swollen, check her ABCs and begin CPR if needed.
3For an insect sting, scrape off the stinger with a credit card. A stinger is usually black and very small. Do not attempt to pick a stinger out as this may release more of the toxin. There may not be a stinger left behind.
4Ice the area to control swelling.
What could happen if an allergic reaction goes unchecked?
A severe allergic reaction can lead to anaphylactic shock. This could occur immediately or progressively over several hours.
