BLS and Resuscitation Training for EMTs

The American Red Cross focuses on providing Basic Life Support (BLS) training and resuscitation education that support EMT or Paramedic certification programs. Individuals should contact their local EMS agency or EMS training program to become a first responder. Through our updated r.25 BLS courses, healthcare clinicians like EMTs can stay current with CPR, AED and Basic Life Support skills for adult and pediatric patients. These evidence-based courses include updated materials, current scientific guidelines, practical teaching tools and opportunities for Continuing Education (CE) credit.

Red Cross Resuscitation Suite™ (BLS/ALS/PALS/NALS)

The American Red Cross also develops curriculum for advanced resuscitation programs, including Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS). These programs are primarily delivered through authorized training providers and EMS agencies.

Flexible Training for EMTs

The American Red Cross supports EMTs through Basic Life Support (BLS) training and resuscitation education to support EMT or Paramedic certification programs. Our BLS courses are based on current scientific guidelines and taught by experienced instructors.

For added flexibility, BLS courses are available in a blended learning format, combining online coursework with an in-person skills session. A new feature for the r.25 courses includes Computer Adaptive Testing. This new learning methodology enables students to take a preassessment test. The curriculum is then personalized to their knowledge. It also reduces training time and allows student to focus on improving skill mastery.
